Following the launch and publication of the Materials UK Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) for Energy Materials in December 2007, a 2 day conference will be held on 9-10th October 2008 which will highlight the vital role of materials in meeting the challenges identified in the SRA and in tackling climate change.
The conference is one of a number of steps being taken in implementing the recommendations of the SRA and stimulating and coordinating the materials supply chain. The meeting will cover materials technology developments & future requirements for energy generation (fossil, nuclear & renewables) and supply (transmission, distribution & storage). In particular, it will highlight the strengths, opportunities and state of the art in the UK and the business opportunities being created in this sector.
Who should attend?
The Conference is looking to engage organisations across the full materials supply chain from research providers to technology end users. We are looking for participants who have a serious interest in developing the UK as a Centre of Excellence in this field and who want to help implement the UK’s Energy Materials Strategy. In return, there will be opportunities to listen to, and discuss with, the key funding agencies (EPSRC, TSB, ETI) where future opportunities lie.
This will be a major event sponsored by Materials UK, the Energy Technologies Institute, the Technology Strategy Board and a number of major industrialists from the UK Energy supply chain and the Energy Materials Group of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
Places for this event are strictly limited. |
